How Should Trucks Be Maintained

If you want your truck to have a longer service life, truck maintenance is even more important. Rather than waiting until something goes wrong with your vehicle, it's better to pay attention to detailed maintenance in your daily life.


1.Daily maintenance content

  • Appearance inspection: Before leaving the truck, look around the truck to see if there is any damage to the lighting device, whether the body is tilted, whether there are any oil leaks, water leaks, etc.; check the appearance of the tires; check the doors, engine compartment cover, and rows. Check the condition of the lid and glass.


  • Signaling device: Turn on the ignition switch key (without starting the engine), check the lighting status of each warning light and indicator light, start the engine and check whether the warning lights are normally extinguished and whether the indicator light is still on.


  • Fuel check: Check the fuel gauge for instructions and replenish fuel.

2.Weekly maintenance content

  • Tire pressure: Check and adjust the tire pressure and clean the debris on the tires. Don't forget to check the spare tire.


  • Truck engine and various oils: Check the fixation of each component of the engine, check whether there is any oil or water leakage on each joint surface of the engine; check and adjust the tightness of the belt; check the fixation of the pipelines and wires in each part; check Replenish engine oil, replenish coolant, replenish electrolyte, replenish power steering oil; clean the surface of the radiator; replenish windshield washer fluid, etc.


  • Cleaning: Clean the inside of the truck and clean the outside of the truck.

3. Monthly maintenance content

  •  Exterior inspection: Inspect the van to check for damage to the bulbs and lampshades; check the fixation of the vehicle body decorations; check the condition of the reversing mirrors.


  • Tires: Check the wear of the tires and clean the luggage compartment; replace the tires when they are close to the wear mark of the tires, and check whether there are bulges, abnormal wear, aging cracks and bruises on the tires.


  • Cleaning and waxing: Thoroughly clean the inside of the truck; clean the debris on the surface of the water tank, oil radiator and air conditioning radiator


  • Chassis: Check the chassis for oil leakage. If traces of oil leakage are found, check the amount of gear oil in each assembly and replenish it appropriately, and perform adequate grease replenishment on all oil nozzles of the chassis.


4. Maintenance content every six months

  • Three filters: Use compressed air to blow away the dust from the air filter; replace the fuel filter in a timely manner and clean the filter screen of the pipe joint; replace the engine oil and oil filter.


  • Battery: Check whether there is any corrosion on the battery terminals. Rinse the battery surface with hot water to remove corrosion on the battery terminals. Add battery replenishing fluid as appropriate.


  • Coolant: Check and replenish the coolant and clean the surface of the water tank.


  • Tire hubs: Check the wear of the van tires and replace the tires. Check the preloading condition of the wheel hub and bearing. If there is any gap, adjust the preloading degree.


  • Braking system: Check and adjust the shoe clearance of the drum hand brake; check and adjust the free travel of the foot brake pedal; check the wear of the wheel brake shoes. If the wear mark is reached, replace the brake shoes; check and adjust the wheel brakes Shoe gap; check and replenish brake fluid, etc.

5. Annual maintenance content

  • Ignition timing: Check and adjust the ignition timing of the truck engine. It is best to go to a repair shop to check and adjust the fuel supply timing of the diesel engine.


  • Valve clearance: For engines equipped with ordinary valves, the high-speed valve clearance should be checked.


  • Clean and lubricate: Clean the oil stains on the engine compartment cover, van door and luggage compartment hinge mechanism, readjust and lubricate the above mechanisms.
